This year’s Telecare Award of Excellence luncheon event, to be held at noon on Monday, November 28th at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, New York, will honor recipients of the 2016 Telecare Excellence Awards in three categories:  Religious Leader, Broadcast Media and a Lifetime Achievement Award.  Receiving the awards will be Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, Vice-President of the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops and Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston; Roma Downey, Actress best known for her role in Touched by an Angel and her husband Mark Burnett, Producer/Entrepreneur and President of MGM Television and Digital Group; and Charles F. Dolan, Cable Industry Pioneer and Founder of Cablevision, respectively.

Jane Hanson, host of Telecare’s CHS Long Island Health Source along with Colleen McVey, Anchor of News 12 Long Island, will serve as Co-Masters of Ceremonies and Tom and Eileen Alexanderson will act as Co-Chairs for the event.

According to the Reverend Monsignor James C. Vlaun, President & CEO of Telecare, “We are proud to present Cardinal Daniel DiNardo with the Religious Leader Award for his work with the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops and for his priestly service to the Church.  Prior to being named Archbishop of Galveston-Houston, in 2006, Cardinal DiNardo was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Pittsburgh in July 1977 and has served as parish pastor, seminary professor, spiritual director, and in the chancery. He then went on to work in Rome as a staff member for the Congregation for Bishops, as director of Villa Stritch (the house for American clergy), and as adjunct professor at the Pontifical North American College.  In June 2006, he received the pallium from Pope Benedict XVI and was elevated to the College of Cardinals the following year at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.  In 2013 he was elected by his brother bishops as the Vice-President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).  ”His good works are being recognized with our 2016 Award of Excellence as a Religious Leader.”

“We are equally proud to honor Roma Downey and Mark Burnett with the Broadcast Media Award.   Roma is an Actress and Producer best known for her role as Monica in Touched by an Angel and Mark is a Producer and Entrepreneur.  In December 2015, Mark was named President of MGM Television and Digital Group.  Together, they have produced many spiritual movies such as “Ben-Hur”, “Son of God” and “The Bible” for faith-based audiences everywhere.  Through their work they have brought and continue to bring the Gospel to millions of people worldwide.

“It is also with great pleasure that we present Charles F. Dolan with our Lifetime Achievement Award.  Mr. Dolan is a cable industry pioneer and Founder of Cablevision, which is one of the nation’s leading telecommunications and media companies.  In addition, Mr. Dolan serves at Executive Chairman of AMC Networks, Inc., a leading producer of pioneering programming for many media platforms.  Mr. Dolan is a man that spreads his faith through good works, good ideas and ethical standards” concluded Reverend Monsignor James C. Vlaun.
